Accommodation

Accommodation may be provided, depending on your programme (please check the programme page). Either way, participants can book their own accommodation according to their requirements, preferences and financial means. This way, you are also free to bring a family member along and to extend your stay in Angers before or after the summer school. We ask you to be in Angers on the Sunday before your course starts as most programmes will offer a cultural activity on that day.

Angers offers a wide range of hotels that are listed on the tourist office's website.

Here are also several tips that may be useful if you are looking for a shared or short-term accommodation:

Meals

All weekday lunches are served at the university restaurant. The menu consists of a starter, a main course, a dessert, a fruit and bread. Vegetarian dishes are available. Coffee, tea and juices are available during coffee breaks. Please note that the Summer schools in Angers cannot guarantee that all dietetary needs participants may have can be met.

Service and facilities

The office of the Summer schools in Angers will be at participants' service Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 6.30 pm. The staff will be available for questions and support, in-person on the Health campus or by phone.

Local students will guide you during your stay. They will escort you during social activities and be available throughout the day for assistance.

Wireless internet connection is available on campus free of charge. A few days before your arrival, you will receive an email with instructions to sign up to the University of Angers wi-fi network.

What to pack

In Angers, summer temperatures are mild or pleasantly warm. It can also rain, but less often than in winter. At times, hot periods can occur, generally of short duration, which in recent years are becoming more frequent, during which the temperature may reach or exceed 35 degress Celcius.

Casual wear is fine for classes and activities. If required for scientific visits, white coats will be lended to you. Comfortable shoes are strongly recommended for tours. You can bring something smart for the closing ceremony but formal attire is not required.

Since participants usually come from many different countries, they are encouraged to bring with them specialties from their hometown that they would like their coursemates to taste.

Health Insurance

Participants must provide their own medical insurance. Failure to carry insurance can result in the delay or denial of treatment. Please note that the University of Angers will not take any responsibility in case of medical, hospital and repatriation expenses during the Summer Schools.

Adequate health insurance provides coverage for:
1) Treatment and medications administered overseas,
2) Emergency evacuation should you need to be rushed to a hospital overseas or back to your home country;

If you are an EU citizen, the copy of the European health insurance card is fully enough.
If you are not an EU citizen, please check if your current international health insurance provides adequate coverage while you are abroad.

We also recommend you to have a liability insurance/ third party insurance, especially if you consider doing activities other than the ones included in the social programme during your stay.
