Angers
Angers is a medium-sized city with about 230,000 inhabitants. It is located in the Loire Valley in Western France, about 1.5 hour by train from Paris and the Atlantic coast.
It regularly tops the lists of best places to live in France and has been voted greenest french town for several years now, with its numerous parks and gardens and specialised plant production companies.
It is renowned for its many historical sites, its fine cuisine and wines and its relaxed way of life. It offers a rich cultural scene with film, drama and music festivals. Angers is also one of the most sports-focused towns in France and home to the SCO football team and the Ducs d'Angers premier league ice hockey team.
It's a young city - nearly 50% of the population is under 30 and it has about 40,000 students.
Angers is also particularly open to the world: it was chosen by China to host a Confucius Institute and it has the largest English-language library in western France.
