Angers Summer Schools 2020: Cancelled

 

With the global impact from the ongoing spread of COVID-19, the University of Angers has taken the decision to cancel the 2020 Summer Schools.
We are sorry for any inconvenience this cancellation may cause but we hope you understand why this decision has been made.
The Summer Schools fees will be fully refunded to students. The Angers Summer Schools will be back in 2021. Courses with new dates and new application deadline will be published by the end of the year.

RESEARCH SUMMER SCHOOL 

2 weeks - 60 hours - 6 ECTS delivered

This research program will show students the links between fundamental sciences and clinical research.

International researchers from different universities will interact on selected topics:

From gene to clinical application

Beyond genes: epigenetics and environment

From chemistry to clinical trials

Informatics and medicine

From microorganisms to medical microbiology

From integrative physiology to space medicine research

Workshops and visits

Visits of international research institutes

This program is an opportunity to attend practical and interactive classes. Several workshops are therefore organized, among them :

  • Research in the academic versus industrial setting
  • Medical Informatics
  • Experimental surgery, including hands-on activities at the simulation center

  • Fetal programming

  • Experimental surgery 
  • Medical Informatics / bioinformatics / metabolomics

Objectives

The purpose is to give students the opportunity to be exposed to medical research in an academic environment and to facilitate their access to advanced degrees such as MD or Pharmacy/PhD programs. During the course they will:

  • Be exposed to research methods and state of the art medical technologies and devices in different medical fields.
  • Meet international researchers and interact with international students in an intercultural and interdisciplinary context.
  • In this program a total of 60 hours with:

Lectures from international researchers (45 minutes) followed by questions and answers sessions,

Workshops organized with small groups of students,

Oral presentations by students on selected topics,

Visits of research institutions.

Invited speakers

International speakers will take part in the program.
